Prof. Jeffrey B. Johnson |
Assistant Research Professor of Geophysics
I am an assistant professor of geophysics in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at New Mexico Tech. My research interests focus on understanding eruptive processes using integrated field geophysical measurements including seismic, infrasound, thermal, microwave, and video monitors to quantify and track volcanic activity. I and several students within our group at New Mexico Tech focus on infrasound studies and we build calibrated infrasound transducers that are suitable for volcano monitoring and research purposes. We currently operate an arsenal of ~100 sensors and these transducers are made available to collaborating scientists at cost. More information about volcano infrasound and our volcano infrasound lab may be found at http://ees.nmt.edu/johnson_j/infravolc.htm .
